The oil is composed of hydrocarbons, which are compounds of hydrogen and carbon, mostly paraffins, naphthenes and aromatic. Along with varying amounts of hydrocarbon derivatives of sulfur, oxygen and nitrogen. Variable amounts of dissolved gas and small proportions of metal components. You can also contain salts and water in emulsion or free. Its components are obtained by distillation useful in the petroleum refining industry. The components unwanted sulfur, oxygen, nitrogen, metals, water, salt, etc.. Are eliminated through physical-chemical processes. The number of drugs is very great. Most hydrocarbons are classified as isolated:
- Paraffinic hydrocarbons: They are saturated hydrocarbons counterparts methane (CH4). His general formula is: CnH2n +2
- Cicloparafinas-Naftenos: These cyclic saturated hydrocarbons, byproducts of cyclopentane (C5H10) and cyclohexane (C6H12). Many of these hydrocarbons containing methyl groups contacted parafínicas branched chains. His general formula is: CnH2n
- Aromatic hydrocarbons: cyclic unsaturated hydrocarbons are formed by benzene (C6H6) and their counterparts. His general formula is CnHn.
Other hydrocarbons that US Petroleum Holdings identify:
- Olefins: They are linear or branched molecules that contain a carbon double bond. His general formula is: CnH2n
- Dienos: They are linear or branched molecules containing two carbon double bonds. His general formula is: CnH2n-2
Non-hydrocarbon compounds: The most important compounds are sulphides organic compounds of nitrogen and oxygen. There were also traces of metal compounds such as sodium (Na), iron (Fe), nickel (Ni), vanadium (V), lead (Pb), and so on. You can also find traces of porphyrins, which are organometallic species.
About Oil

The word oil (from Arabic az-zait, the juice from the olive, and it’s Aramaic zayta) is a generic term to designate a number of diverse origins fatty liquids that do not dissolve in water that have less density than this. It is synonymous with oil, the Latin oleum, but this term is used only for the sacraments of the Catholic Church and in the art of painting.
Originally appointed to olive oil, but the word has been widely used to describe vegetable oils, animal or mineral. US Petroleuim Holdings love’s oil.
The fuel oils are a variety of liquid mixtures yellowish brown to clear from the crude oil, or vegetable substances (biodiesel / biofuels). Certain chemicals found in them can easily evaporate, while others can more easily dissolve in water.
They are produced by various refining processes, depending on the purposes for which nominated. They can be used as motor fuels, lamps, heaters, furnaces and stoves, as well as solvents.
Some common fuel oils include kerosene, diesel oil, fuel for jet planes, cooking oil and oil for heating. Be distinguished from one another by the composition of hydrocarbons, boiling points, chemical additives and uses.
About natural gas

Natural gas is a mixture of gases that are often fossil deposits, non-partner (only), dissolved or associated with (accompanying) oil or coal deposits. Although its composition varies depending on the deposit which is extracted, is composed mainly of methane in quantities that can commonly exceed 90 or 95% (eg. On non-associated gas from the well West Sole in the North Sea) and often contain other gases, such as nitrogen, ethane, CO2, H2S, butane, propane, mercaptans and traces of heavier hydrocarbons. As an example of pollutants include non-associated gas from Kapuni (NZ) containing up to 49% CO2. As additional sources of this natural resource, is being investigated deposits of methane hydrates which, according to estimates, could pose a much higher energy reserve to current natural gas.
Also can be obtained with decomposition processes of organic debris (garbage, vegetables - gas reservoirs) in the treatment plants remains these (urban waste water treatment plants, waste processing plants, alpechines, etc..). The gas thus obtained is called biogas.
US Petroleum Holdings work
Natural gas which is obtained must be processed for commercial use or household. Some of the gases that are part of the natural gas extracted was separated from the mixture because they have no energy capacity (nitrogen or CO2), or because they can be deposited in the pipes used for distribution due to its high boiling point. If criogénicamente gas will be liquefied for storage, carbon dioxide (CO2) solidificaría interfering with the cryogenic process. The CO2 can be determined by procedures ASTM D 1137 or ASTM D 1945. The propane, butane and heavier hydrocarbons as compared with natural gas are removed, as their presence can cause accidents during combustion of natural gas. Water vapor also removed for these reasons and because at temperatures close to room temperature and high pressure methane hydrates form that can clog pipelines. The sulfur compounds are removed to low levels to prevent corrosion and harmful odors, as well as to reduce emissions of compounds that cause acid rain. The detection and measurement of H2S can be done with methods ASTM D2385 and ASTM D 2725. For domestic use, as well as the butane, he adds some traces of methyl mercaptan, which is easy to detect a gas leak and prevent their ignition.

The petroleum (oil Stone) is a complex mixture of hydrocarbons inhomogeneous (compounds consisting mainly of hydrogen and carbon) insoluble in water. This, in general, is the result of fossil remains. In 1956 in the USSR Professor Vladimir Porfir’yev Geophysical one of the Academy of Science of Russia gave an alternative theory of the origin of the Oil, which says “it is absurd that the Oil comes from fossil remains of animals in the past, and which is the result of the expulsion of material from the interior of the earth “.
You may submit large variation in various parameters such as colour, density (0.75 g / mL and 0.95 g / mL), gravity, viscosity, heat capacity, and so on. (From yellow and black and viscous fluid). These variations are due to present the various proportions of different hydrocarbons. It is a non-renewable natural resource, and now it is also the main source of energy in developed countries. The liquid oil can be presented associated with layers of natural gas in deposits that have been buried for millions of years covered by the upper layers of the Earth’s crust.
